Digital maturity meter for municipalities & regions
Dimio's "Digital Maturity in the Public Sector" helps public sector organizations to take advantage of the benefits of digitalization, for example through digital services to residents. Right now, over 70 organizations are using Dimios, and they are rapidly becoming more and more!
For almost two years, Spring have supported Dimatech in the development of the Dimios service.
One of the great advantages of Dimios is that the management shifts the focus on digitalization from technology to governance issues. By improving the managing of IT, one can scale significantly better, and understand how an entire IT portfolio can be continuously improved over time. An example of an area that is addressed by Dimios is “shadow-it”, ie how much of the IT investments are made unsanctioned, outside the usual purchasing routines. The purchased "shadow systems" solve operational problems quickly, but often end up outside established management plans, and lead to unwanted costs and unmanageable system environments over time. Dimios makes the problem visible and helps to develop the organization to, for example, counteract shadow-it.
One of the most appreciated features is the ability to compare with others, as well as share examples of digitization initiatives that work in practice. The product is based on a scientific model developed by researchers at the University of Gothenburg, the researchers now focus on how to scientifically interpret the results on an aggregate level, and say something about change in digital maturity nationally. We work closely with the researchers, to ensure that the product is further developed in conversation with the scientific results.
In 2020, we rebuilt large parts of the interface and made it much more intuitive, hiding complexity behind smart search and filter functions, and speeding up the service by automating export jobs that run at night.
We have also developed a graphic profile, and built a new website for the research group behind the model (www.digitalforvaltning.se).
